Schmiedewerke Gröditz gets 60-tonne tilting device

electrical hydraulic turning device 60to Can Nordgreif build a device that can tilt our heavy and large forged discs?

The inquiry of Gröditzer Schmiedewerke that Nordgreif received a few months ago could have been this or something similar.

Soon after the first meeting it was clear that a special tilting fixture is required in this case.

The task was clearly defined:

Receiving and turning forged, cast and machined rotationally symmetrical components as well as ring and disc elements. The components have a diameter of up to 4,000 mm and a height of up to 1,800 mm. The weight of a component may be up to 60 tonnes.

Following intense discussions, adequate reasoning and detailed planning, Nordgreif presents an optimum solution for this task.

Running the turning process by this elektro hydraulic Tilting and Turning Device . . .

Function and dimensions:

The proposed tilting fixture has an own weight of about 46 tonnes. The dimension of the device is presented with a length of 14 m, a height of about 5 m and a width of nearly 4 m. The entire device must be embedded up to 2 m in the ground to optimise the operation.

An operation starts with the placement of the disc on the traversing carriage, using which the disc can be driven into the tilting fixture. Once the disc has been put in place, the clamping jaws of the tilting fixture close. The disc is clamped and the turning operation is initiated. The disc is tilted by 90°, rotated by 180° and tilted back. Now the clamping jaws are released and the disc is moved out of the device using the traversing table. . . Done!

The device was built, installed and has been successfully in operation for several weeks.
